summer activities for kids

Summer Break is almost here, so we are kicking off this season with a round-up of our favorite kids Summer activities.

Scavenger hunts

Who doesn’t love a scavenger hunt? They are easy to set up for parents and kids always seem to love the hunt. It’s a great way to quickly throw together an outside activity that is engaging and can circle around almost any subject. Here are a few of my favorites.

Simple Color Scavenger Hunt from I Heart Crafty Things. This one couldn’t be easier to put together and the flexibility of it makes it really fun to see what kids will come up with.

Backyard Scavenger Hunt from Lindsay Blogs. Check out the free-printable she created to go along with this one.

Simple Nature Art

These are really fun to do in the Summer months. Collect different nature items, bring out some craft supplies and let the creating begin! Here are some of my favorites, but don’t stop here. You and your kids can really get creative mixing craft materials and nature items with this activity.

Dandelion Painting from Kitchen Floor Crafts

Leaf Rubbing Paintings from the Crafty Chicks

Paint Pet Rocks from Living Well Mom

Nature Paint Brushes from Messy Little Monster

Dollar Store Outdoor Activity Hacks

Let’s face it, Summer can be expensive. Between vacations, Summer camps and activities, day trips, pool memberships, water parks, and an endless parade of birthday parties to attend, who needs to spend more money this Summer? These Dollar Store activities are just the ticket for tight budgets and big fun.

Make Big Art outside

There’s just something about creating large scale art that ignites excitement. Summer is the perfect time for creating big art because let’s face it, we want to leave all that mess outside. Don’t let the messiness hold you back from making big, messy art outside- that’s what hoses ae for! Paint washed off, memories will stick for a lifetime. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
